Browne’s Dairy is Western Australia’s largest milk collector. The company, which was established in 1886, now processes more than 130 million litres of milk annually from WA’s south west. Browne’s uses this milk across its dairy product range, including yoghurt, cream, flavoured milk and dairy desserts. The processor has about 55 SKUs, supplying supermarkets and independent stores throughout WA.
Unreliable coders on the Brunswick Junction plant’s yoghurt-production lines were causing too much downtime, so the company needed to update to more reliable equipment. The company has two single-tub yoghurt lines, of predominantly 200g and 1kg tubs.
On these two yoghurt lines, Browne’s relied on a manual spreadsheet, which operators would cross reference before manually entering the use-by dates into their coders.
