Linx 8900 software enhancments

As part of its commitment to continual product improvement, Linx Printing Technologies has introduced additional hardware and software features into its market-leading 8900 Series Continuous Ink Jet (CIJ) printers to further increase their functionality and versatility.

For all 8900 Series models, the availability of User Defined Date Formats provides even greater coding flexibility by enabling operators to create their own customised date and time formats. This allows companies to be highly flexible in meeting a variety of specific customer needs, for example in the contract packing sector.

On the production line, the new parallel IO communications feature means the printer can be more easily integrated into the line and communicate with other equipment and PLCs. For example, in the event of a problem somewhere on the line, related equipment can stop at the same time, allowing operators to deal with the issue and restart the line more quickly.

Allied to this, multi-stage alarm beacons can now be connected to 8900 Series printers, and configured to individual customer needs, so that each light on the alarm can indicate different printer conditions. This also allows any problems to be identified and dealt with quickly.

The new Production Schedule feature on the Linx 8920 and 8940 models enables the printers to print a sequence of different messages automatically. This is particularly useful for traversing applications such as in dairy, or where printing a different message at different intervals is required on a continual line, for example extrusions, cabling or wood.

“The introduction of the Linx 8900 series has already extended the capabilities of CIJ printing in general,” comments Charles Randon, Senior Product Manager at Linx.

“At the same time, end markets are continuing to develop with additional requirements and challenges for coding equipment. These latest enhancements will ensure the Linx 8900 remains the coder of choice for many different applications.”

Capable of printing both human and machine-readable codes, the Linx 8900 series incorporates a wealth of features that speed up day-to-day operation and maintenance, combined with the renowned Linx reliability that ensures continual performance and minimal downtime. In addition, the printer offers even greater versatility thanks to its range of special reporting functions, which enable companies to identify ways to improve productivity.
