
History of Linx
Since our founding on 6 July 1987, Linx Printing Technologies has spent nearly four decades helping manufacturers overcome coding and marking challenges. What began as a small company in Cambridgeshire, UK, has grown into a globally recognised provider of coding and marking solutions, trusted by customers in more than 120 countries.
Throughout our 39-year journey, we have combined innovation, industry expertise and a deep understanding of customer needs to develop reliable, easy-to-use solutions that help keep production lines running efficiently.
The timeline below highlights some of the key milestones that have shaped Linx and enabled us to continue making coding and marking one less thing for our customers to worry about.
Linx is established by Mike Keeling and Hillar Weinberg. The 5000 Series CIJ printer is launched with a sealed printhead and four-line print capability.
The 6000 Series launches with industry-first full printhead AutoFlush and a WYSIWYG display.
Linx receives the Queen’s Award for Export Achievement and the Prince of Wales Award for Innovation, and becomes ISO9001 certified.
Linx SAS is established in France. The 6200 model launches as the first CIJ printer to have auto power down.
The 4800 launches with IP55 rating as standard
Linx receives the Robert King Medal for Export Achievement and is already selling into 38 countries.
Xymark is acquired, bringing Linx an established range of laser coders.
Linx becomes ISO14001 certified.
The IJ600 launches as the first large character printer for secondary packaging. The 6800 Spectrum also launches as the first dedicated printer for pigmented inks.
The 4900 model launches with a deep drawn stainless steel cover that shrugs off water.
Linx is acquired by Danaher. Linx also launches its first Thermal Transfer Overprinters: TT3, TT5 and TT10.
Linx laser coders are launched with the SL101 and SL301.
The 6900 solver reduces solvent use by 40%.
The CJ400 launches as the lightest CIJ printer on the market, with a colour touch screen and self-service module.
The CJ400 wins the PPMA Award for Most Innovative Packaging Machine. Linx also launches the IJ355/IJ375 compact IJ range & the 7900 Range with ethernet built in as standard.
Linx Shanghai Trading Co., Ltd is established and the TJ725 TIJ printer is launched with a self-cleaning cartridge cover.
Linx moves to purpose-built headquarters in St Ives. The 8900 CIJ Series launches with a two-year service interval, RFID protection for mistake-proof fluid refills and a mess-free self-service module. Linx also introduces FSL20/50 fibre laser coders to mark metal, plastic and stone.
The Linx 10 launches as the smallest CIJ printer. Linx also launches the CSL10 and CSL30 lasers for even faster marking speeds.
The CSL60 laser launches for high-speed marking.
Linx launches PrinterNet, its IIoT solution.
The 8800 Series launches as a competitive CIJ printer for high-growth markets.
MEK-free 3203 Black ink becomes available. Linx also launches TT500/750/1000 thermal transfer printers that run without compressed air.
Linx launches the SL3 single-box 30W laser.
Linx celebrates its 35th anniversary.
The revolutionary Linx 8000 Series Spectrum pigmented ink printers are launched. Linx also becomes part of Veralto’s Product Quality and Innovation Segment.
Refurbished UK fluids plant opens, Linx UVG5 UV lasers are launched,and Linx receives the Gold Veralto Innovation Award for the 8000 Series Spectrum.
Linx launches the 9000 Series at interpack, new offices and showroom at Linx France open. Eddy Fadel is appointed President of Linx and Linx receives the Veralto Most Improved Plant award.
