Batch code printing is a critical part of traceability. The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is a statutory body under Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006. The Food Safety and Standards Act (FSS), 2006 is the primary law for regulation of food products which is set up the formulation and enforcement of food safety standards in India.
It states the code as specific identified portion of a batch, that is uniform and that is intended to meet specifications for identity, purity, and composition.
