Faster changeovers, without the risk of errors
One challenge with changeover is getting the right message onto the right product quickly.
The Linx 9000 Series range of printers incorporates Linx QuickSwitch® so messages can be changed in real time using external production devices. This saves time and reduces the likelihood of the wrong message ending up on the products coming down the line – so no rework and no risk of costly fines.
For example, a barcode scanner can send the scanned data to the printer to select a message to print, or to change the contents of the message being printed. A check weigher can send the weight of a product to the printer so that the actual weights can be printed on every pack. Another device such as a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) can send commands to start and stop the printer, and trigger prints, so that the printer is synchronised with other equipment on the production line. And crucially, all of this can happen in real-time, live production environments.
Control messages without leaving your desk
Product changeovers often require you to stop what you’re doing, walk to the printer, and manually update messages.
With Linx Message Studio™ messages can be created and edited quickly and easily then sent directly from a PC to the printer in seconds via the network or using a USB drive.
There’s no need to interrupt production or rely on manual updates at the printer, ensuring a faster response to product changes.
Avoid using the wrong code
Selecting the wrong message during a product changeover can lead to costly mistakes.
The Linx 9000 Series removes that risk with a useful feature called ‘Product Picture Select’.
Operators simply choose the correct product using an easily recognisable image – there’s no need to remember any code requirements.
Repeat changeovers in seconds
Many production lines run the same jobs again and again. Some printers still require the line settings for each message to be set up every time regardless of whether or not the message has been used with the same line settings previously.
With stored line settings, the Linx 9000 Series allows up to 50 previously used line settings to be saved and re-selected easily.
This ensures a rapid, repeatable setup meaning that every changeover is as efficient as the last.
Move between lines without stopping production
Moving a printer from line to line is another hidden source of downtime.
Typically, moving a printer means shutting it down, relocating it, and waiting for it to restart.
With Linx PrintProtect® downtime is significantly reduced.
